Movie Conventions Research: (Die Hard)

Elements (Conventions) of the Genre in "Die Hard" That I will use in my film

Single Protagonist Against Odds: ("Die Hard" adheres to the action genre convention of featuring a lone protagonist, in this case, John McClane, who faces overwhelming odds and adversaries. I will be using this as the character in my film to be defying agaisnt all odds)

High-Stakes Situation: (The film employs the convention of placing the protagonist in a high-stakes situation. In "Die Hard," McClane must navigate a terrorist takeover of a building, creating tension and suspense. In my film I will include a situation where the main character will have to undergo a situation that will take intellect to solve

Elements of the Genre in "Die Hard" that I Like:

Relatable Protagonist: (The Main character in the film is a person who certain people an relate to. He is an everyday cop that ends up getting caught in a situation that people would not normally be in and goes through extreme action)

Tension Building: (I like how film is good at building and maintaining tension throughout the film. The suspenseful atmosphere and the relentless pace contribute to the overall excitement and engagement of the audience.)

Elements of the Genre in "Die Hard" that Did Not Appeal to Me:

Stereotypical Side Characters: (Even though Die hard has some good main characters. Some of the supporting characters may lean towards stereotypes, such as the bureaucratic and unhelpful authorities. This is a common convention but can feel formulaic.)

Plot Convenience: (The film relies on certain plot conveniences and coincidences to drive the story forward. While this is typical in action films, some viewers may find it stretches credibility.)
